1.
Verse 1 Gather around, come around and sing To praise the name of the Lord our king Behold the Lamb, the lamb who was slain Before the throne, worthy of all blessing Chorus: Heaven, earth, and sea all stop and stare And worship Him who eternally is there On the Throne Verse 2 Sending his son, to save what had been lost A perfect man, hanging on that cross Listen now, hear the trumpet call Creatures above call Him Lord of all Chorus We cast our crowns before The one who we adore All glory to You Lord We sing for evermore So cast your crowns before The one that we adore All glory to You Lord We sing forevermore We sing forevermore.
2.
Chorus 1: The gardener, He knows your soul. He’ll prune and he’ll dig: The wilted leaves, the fruitless trees, the sin Verse 1: Us humans we slip in our power, Easier to control than to love. We eat the fruit of knowledge When all we must do is behold. Prechorus 1: Repent, Repent, Remember the love that you had Remember that dust comes from dust And dust you will go. Chorus 2: The gardener, He hears your cries, For the sun and the rain. (2x: the truth and the grace) The tree grows, the streams flow again Verse 2: Water as clear as crystal Flows from the lamb and the throne, Quenching and welcoming all who Accept the immaculate home. Prechorus 2: Reborn, Reborn, Brought through the fire and storm The water and blood and scars Have bought me salvation. Chorus 3: The gardener, Before Eden, To Gethsemane, He gave me life, he bled and died, for me. Verse 3: Roots in my soul grow so deep, They can’t rip them out of me. When I enter glory forever What’s more than his hands and feet. Prechorus 3: Eden, Eden, Will be restored again The leaves of the tree of life For the healing of nations.
3.
(Chorus x2) Fear God and give Him glory, for the hour of his judgement has come Worship Him who made Heaven and Earth, let His will be done (Verse 1) Great and amazing are Your deeds oh Lord almighty Just and true are Your ways oh king of nations we say Who will not fear you lord and glorify Your name For You alone are holy and all the nations will come and say, they’ll say (Chorus x2) Fear God and give Him glory, for the hour of his judgement has come Worship Him who made Heaven and Earth, let His will be done (Verse 2) Just are you oh holy One who was, and is, and is to come amen For You have brought these judgements here, giving payment to the land Though I may fear, I’ll trust in You and in Your perfect plan For we will reap what we have sowed through Your unbiased hand (Chorus x2) Fear God and give Him glory, for the hour of his judgement has come Worship Him who made Heaven and Earth, let His will be done (Bridge) Let all who bear His sign sing Sing the song the harpists bring throughout the Earth Let all the sin be washed away Cleansed on this holy day as we put Him first The serpent’s sea spits fire red Thrown into the sulfur and he crumbles dead And forever on we’ll sing praises to God’s name Oh we’ll sing praises to His name
4.
The heavens rejoice and the earth sings in chorus the depths of the oceans and all that live in it The fields will exult and the stones they’ll cry out the trees will give voice and the heavens will trumpet Hallelujah His Blood turned to gold and his body a city His hands are the branches his breath is so windy and the leaves are the words for the healing that’s come  for the nations rejoice and creation will cry out Hallelujah…. The leaves that were sown by his hands for our cover the shame that has flown like a torrential river has been washed by his blood, all accursed now a blessing let’s throw ourselves in and drown in all that is holy Hallelujah…
5.
Verse 1 The wind don’t move just to feel the trees The waves don’t dance just to raise the sea The stars don’t fly through the galaxy for me Verse 2 Was my heart made just to grieve the world There’s pain on earth everywhere I turn I’m tired of it never making sense to me Chorus You will wipe away every tear that falls You’re a father with a name that triumphs over all You’re my promise of a love that’s steady in the storm I will wait for Heaven on a New Earth I will wait for Heaven on a New Earth (Chorus 4) I will wait for Heaven on a New Earth Verse 3 You’ve promised us it is done your son has Won the war on a rugged cross Jesus you are the reason it’s complete Verse 4 The weight of hell has no hold on me Children free from the misery of Grieving death cause your life’s the air we breathe Yes your life’s written here all over me Bridge (X3) I will wait forever Set my gaze on heaven I will praise you forever Alpha and Omega
6.
Verse 1 I looked up, to the throne Of the Most High The glory of the Risen One Filled my eyes Weep no more He has conquered death the veil is torn Crowns laid down When the Lion of Judah roars Chorus Worthy is the Lamb that was slain for the world All nations bow before Him who reigns Every creature in heaven and on earth shall proclaim All Glory, Honor, and Praise to His name Verse 2 Here I see Christ the lamb slain for me None but thee reigns for all eternity He breaks the seal and Mends the garden to reveal The Kingdom come where All within has been made new Bridge Trumpets sound, Angels sing, songs of praise Hands are raised Nations shout, shout His name

about

We began this project in the Fall of 2019 to produce a large symphony of creative meditations on the book of Revelation in partnership with a Calvin Worship grant on Revelation that our neighbor Pillar church was celebrating. We gathered an amazing group of students to create textual, visual, and auditory interactions with the wild text of the apocalypse. The pandemic of course threw all of this off track. There are half finished paintings, constructions, poems, and songs littering the lost days and hour of the past year and a half. A few of the students on the worship team persevered through this season and with some consistent prodding (of me) helped bring this gorgeous collection of songs to fruition.

The cover is a collage by our resident designer Blake Johnson inspired by Revelation 21. (The corner pieces and the site header draw from a painting of Revelation 12 by worship team member Abi Nasari, '22).

I could not be more grateful for the amazing students on the worship and tech teams over these past two years. They are a testament to the deep, vibrant faith that God is tending and nurturing at Hope College.

We give this new collection of prayers and songs as a sacrifice of praise in wait of the new creation.

Peace,
Bruce Benedict

Designers Note:
The cover image is a digital collage composed of pieces from Abi Nasari's painting (Revelation 12), snippets from the Bible, a 16th century dutch stained glass illustration, and a few personal photos from my (Blake Johnson) time out in Colorado.

More abstractly, the image is meant to represent the ideas of Revelation 21:1-6 - a new heaven & earth, revealed to humankind through the opening of the veil. In the midst of a bed of flowers lay the Lamb ("See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them...) the eternal sacrifice, resurrected. ("Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more...")

The veil is depicted as a color prism with the scriptures of revelation superimposed on top. I chose this sort of imagery to represent the barrier between the divine & what is sensory/comprehendible. Perhaps the cosmos, like the temple, will be torn open and the divisions between God & his creation will cease to be. I think the prism is a great transition between the blackness of nothingness and the vibrancy of a new day.
